ROTTERDAM FILM FESTIVAL
WORLD PREMIERE:
LAND OF THE BLIND
Written and directed by Robert Edwards
Starring Ralph Fiennes, Donald Sutherland, Tom Hollander,
and Lara Flynn Boyle
Robert Edwards' compelling feature debut Land of the Blind (UK/US
2006) will have its world premiere on January 31 as one of 12 films in
the VPRO Tiger Awards Competition at the 2006 International Film Festival
Rotterdam.
LAND OF THE BLIND is a UK/US co-production directed
by filmmaker Robert Edwards, a former US Army infantry and intelligence
officer who served with a parachute infantry regiment in Iraq in the
first Gulf war, and who won a Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting from
the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his startling script.
A daring piece of satire Ralph Fiennes, Donald Sutherland, Tom Hollander,
and Lara Flynn Boyle, LAND OF THE BLIND is that rare
animal: a film of ideas that is also visually stunning and politically
provocative, with echoes of countless tyrannies, revolutions, and counter-revolutions
throughout history, and unavoidable parallels to today's headlines.
